The ITJP is established in memory of Glenn Selig, a dedicated crisis manager and former investigative reporter for Tampa’s FOX 13 News, as well as numerous Afghans, Americans, and international allies who lost their lives in a Taliban attack at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul on January 20, 2018. Glenn was a tireless professional, loyal friend, loving husband, and devoted father. His mission in Kabul was to highlight Afghanistan’s progress in countering extremism and supporting democratic initiatives.
The attack, carried out by the Taliban’s Haqqani Network, underscores Afghanistan’s brutal challenges. Sirajuddin Haqqani, the network’s leader, currently serves as the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, enjoying power and impunity. Despite the tragedy, Glenn’s legacy inspires ITJP’s commitment to justice for all victims of such atrocities. Through advocacy and action, ITJP honors Glenn’s memory by striving for a world where violence has no place and justice and peace prevail.
